Privacy notice
This notice is for people Metis may contact on behalf of a sports rights holder, for visitors to this website, and for anyone who asks us about a demo.
Last updated 28 October 2026.
Who we are
Metis provides a sponsorship sales service to sports rights holders: leagues, events, clubs and mass-participation organisers. For the data described here, the controller is Metis HQ Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17548300, with its registered office at 122 Atkins Road, London SW12 0AN. Our registration number with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: to come. You can reach us at privacy@metishq.ai.
What we collect about business contacts
If you work in marketing, brand or partnerships at a company, we may hold:
- your name, job title and employer;
- your work email address and, sometimes, a work phone number;
- the country you work in and its time zone, so that emails reach you during your working day;
- the URL of your professional profile, such as LinkedIn;
- public facts about your company that make an approach relevant, such as a new appointment, a launch or a sponsorship ending.
Where our contact data provider supplies one, we may keep a link to the photo on your professional profile. It is shown only inside the Metis app, next to your name, to our team and to the rights holder the approach is for. It is never put in an email or sent outside Metis.
We do not collect personal email addresses or home phone numbers.
Where it comes from
- public and professional sources: company websites, announcements, press and news coverage, and professional profiles;
- Apollo, a business contact data provider, for names, job titles, work email addresses and the country you work in.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use AI tools to research public information and draft emails; every email is reviewed and approved by a person before it is sent.
We use it to send you a small number of relevant, specific emails about sponsorship with one of our rights holder clients, sent from that client’s own mailbox and approved by a person there. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: rights holders have a legitimate interest in contacting the people whose job is sponsorship and brand, and we limit what we hold and how often you are contacted so that the approach is one you would reasonably expect in your role.
- Purpose: Showing clients a feed of recent, publicly reported business news about businesses relevant to their sponsorship opportunities, which may name people in their professional roles (for example a new marketing director). Whose data: Prospects. Lawful basis: Legitimate interests.
Opting out and objecting
You can object at any time, in your own words. Reply to any email you have received through Metis, or write to privacy@metishq.ai. You do not need to use a particular word, and it does not matter which email you reply to. There are two ways to say no, and both are honoured as soon as we see them.
If we cannot tell which of the two you mean, we pause emails to you until one of our team has read your reply and decided.
How long we keep your information
We keep information only while it is relevant to the purposes in this notice, and we review what we hold regularly.
- Prospect records: While you hold a relevant role and the information is useful for business introductions. We review records regularly and correct or remove those that are out of date or no longer needed. We delete them sooner if you ask.
- Outreach history and replies: For the life of the prospect record, so that we do not contact you more often than we should.
- Suppression list (email addresses no Metis client may contact): Indefinitely, but only the minimum needed to honour it: the email address, the date it was added, which client’s outreach it came from (if any), and the reason (you asked not to be contacted, an email to the address bounced permanently, or we blocked it ourselves). It holds no name, employer or message text. We keep it so that no client contacts you again through Metis.
- Client user accounts: For as long as your organisation uses Metis. When an account closes, we remove data we no longer need, and keep contract, tax and legal-claim records for as long as the law requires (usually 6 years).
- Website enquiries: Up to 2 years after our last exchange.
- Website and security logs: Up to 90 days, unless needed to investigate a security incident.
Who we share it with
With the rights holder client the approach is made for, and with the service providers that run Metis for us. They are listed on our Trust page. We never sell personal data.
Our clients. A client sees the prospect information needed to approve and send an introduction to you, and any reply you send to it. Each client sees only its own outreach. Clients can also browse recent business news Metis has found about businesses relevant to their opportunities. Where an item names you, the client sees your name and role as published in that source, with a link to it.
Some of our suppliers process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge where the recipient is certified) or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as set out in their data processing agreements.
Visitors to this website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. The brand logos in the “Recent signals” strip on the home page are loaded by your browser from Brandfetch, a logo service, so Brandfetch receives that request, including your IP address and our site’s address. If you send us a demo request, we keep your name, organisation, email address and message, and use them only to reply to you.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our use of it. An objection to direct marketing is always honoured. To object, reply to any email you have received through Metis, or write to us. For anything else, write to privacy@metishq.ai and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
